Your
walking cane is a great accessory to you mobile life. You will find
that you get around easier with a walking cane than you perhaps
did before. Caring for a cane is not difficult and these simple
tips will keep your cane in good condition for a long time to come.
- When leaning your cane on a wall or other stationary
place make sure the rubber bottom in on the floor. This will help
prevent the cane from tipping over and crashing to the floor,
which can cause some damage.
- To polish wood canes simply use a furniture
polish.
- Cover nicks and scraps with a felt tip pen.
This works well on black or brown walking canes. Small nicks will
disappear with this method.
- For metal canes use silver polish once a month
or when necessary.
- Keep your cane close, if you’re getting
in a car avoid putting the cane on the roof of the car. Often
canes are forgotten and lost this way.
- Check your handle once a week or so to make
sure it is not loose or cracked. This can lead to accidents if
the damage isn’t repaired.
- If you loose or damage the rubber bottom of
your cane it can easily be replaced. Either call the manufacturer
or you may find a rubber piece at your local hardware store. Make
sure the rubber fits tightly around the bottom to avoid loss and
accidents.
- If your cane come with a strap that you’d
like to remove these can safely be removed. The strap is simply
a convent way to keep the cane close at hand when now using it.
Never use strap when walking it can tangle your hand and cause
an accident.
Your cane will be your constant companion and caring for it will
help you avoid accidents and keep your cane looking great!
