 You
may be asking yourself, what is a cane clip? If you or someone you
know uses a cane a cane clip is a useful accessory to have. A Cane
Clip is a lightweight support that clips onto your cane securely
and easily to "lock" the cane in place under any table.
A cane clip slides up or down the shaft to adjust for different
table heights.
When you have a cane you know that it’s always a struggle
to position your cane in a way that it won’t fall over, which
sometimes makes sitting more trouble than it’s worth! A cane
clip can eliminate this problem. Simply place a clip on any table
that you sit at or near a sitting area you lounge around and you
can be sure that you will be able to comfortably sit down with your
cane securely nearby.
Cane Safety
There are tips for safety of yourself and those around you. Cane
safety is imperative to ensure that you don’t injure yourself.
1- Clean regularly.
2- Inspect your cane weekly for any damage or missing parts
3- Make sure you have the right size cane for you.
Determining the Right Length
1-Measure an existing cane from top to bottom.
2-Ask your therapist or doctor for the correct length.
3-To determine the minimum length a cane of stick can be and still
be perfectly usable, have someone measure you (or the prospective
cane user) following the instructions:
4-Sand as erect as possible.
5-Be in shoes you most often wear OR the highest heels.
6-Allow arms to fall at the sides naturally. Do not lean forward.
Shoulders should not be raised.
7-Take the measurement from the crease at the wrist bone down to
the floor.
8-For safety sake add 1" to the wrist to floor measurement
in every case except 1) where an existing cane measurement is given
or 2) when according to personal preference.
9-Canes can be shortened not lengthened. Measure carefully.
